The best news this week will be the station of Mercury. Mercury has been in retrograde since the middle of June and is now finally turning (stationing) direct. While Mercury is direct and many of you may be breathing a sigh of relief, be aware that there is still the shadow period to go past. As mentioned in previous writings, the shadow period is the area, measured by degree, that represents the path over which Mercury retrograded. While this period is nowhere near as intense or disruptive, it is still worthy to exercise caution. Prior to the station of Mercury this pesky little planet will come into a square with combative Mars. With this combination we can expect communications to be fraught with wild emotions and perhaps aggressive behaviour. Watch for explosive discussions and steer clear of arguments if possible. You’ll likely be happier if you step aside for a while. Watch for road rage and impulsive trigger-happy exchanges. This is a relatively short span of time and it should be easy to divert your attention in meaningful and non-combative ways. Once Mercury is on its way, communications, travel, contracts and topics that pertain to the home and family should become more constructive. Where is that happening in your life? The other important alignment this week involves Neptune (now retrograde) and the Sun. This pleasing trine (harmonious) connection bodes well for escapism and a celebration of fantasy. This same connection speaks to glamour, compassion, creative projects and any topic that delves into imagination and the ethereal connection between real and surreal. This theme should be even more pronounced as the Moon joins the conversation for a brief period. Whatever drama that has been possibly stirred up with the Mars/Mercury connection can be smoothed over during this time. This is a nice way to end the week and allows us to let go of the past and forge onward in a new and much more compelling fashion. This theme is so rich in imagery and intent that you might be inclined to express yourself through altruistic means. If you have a favorite restaurant that has suffered over the last few months, you might be quite eager to help them with a show of support, for example. As we continue to work our way through an extremely complex and disturbing time, these small planetary alliances may be just what we need to soothe our battered souls.. Where will you feel it? ARIES (March 21-April 19): You are on fire this week as Mars, tears into Aries. Aries loves Mars and vice versa. With this placement you may be extremely motivated and driven to accomplish that which you have long wanted. Mars bumps up with Chiron and you may find a way to free yourself from past wounds. Charge on and start anew.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Your ruling planet, Venus has stationed direct and you may begin to formulate new plans for financial security. New ventures, experiments, and future plans may be coming into clearer focus this week as you hammer out the details with co-workers. Education may be your best option. Keep your feet on the ground and don’t get ahead of yourself.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21): Doors may be opening for you as Venus shines her charm on you. A sparkling attitude and an optimistic approach may draw others to you in the most magical way. Your ideas may be held up as an example for others. Be careful not to get to over your head, though. Are you seeing correctly?
CANCER (June 22-July 22): This is your time of the year, dear Cancer and the world is yours. Be careful, though with expectations and conversations as Mercury is still retrograde until next week. Facts and figures and broken communications are likely, so tread cautiously with others. Don’t be too quick to come to a conclusion. Career is top priority.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You may be feeling restless and seeking a new direction this week. You are far too creative to sit and be idle. Be aware of Mercury, still in retrograde motion when you consider your options. It might be wise to wait until next week before you formulate anything concrete. Your next moves could be game-changing.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Venus is moving through your career domain and you may find that doors open for job opportunities. Open discussions with your partner may be a bit confusing, so let the conversation sit for a while before acting. Connections with large organizations are truly motivating. Banks, investment firms and the like are your focus.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Expect to be more engaged than usual with your significant partner or a close friend. You may be needed to resolve a topic. Your sense of diplomacy and decorum are sought as a means to resolving a problem. Daily rituals may be shifting and you take caution before making dramatic changes.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov 21): Your ruling planet, Mars may be providing you with some valuable motivation to work on your health and well being. Your work may be demanding and you are able to address it accordingly. Neptune and the Moon together in fellow water-sign Pisces may cast an emotional overtone, so be sensitive to the personal feelings of others.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Children and creative projects may draw your attention this week as Mars drives into Aries and that area of your life. Domestic topics may be beckoning but there may be a cast of uncertainty there as well. Family matters figure prominently but there is a cloudy confusion that surrounds all decisions.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all, once again, converging in Capricorn. You may feel the weight of responsibility is great and often overwhelming. Your steadfastness is required and you are dependable if nothing else. Motivation may come from the demands of your domestic scene. The time has come to restore civility to the home.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You may feel as if you are standing on the fringe of something quite profound. Your research may have provided you with a few options you had not anticipated. Yet, despite the drive to investigate you may be confused by financial matters that remain obscure and hard to determine. A short pause might serve you well and provide clarity.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): You may be singularly driven by financial matters this week, but a little restraint might serve you well. Investigate all money matters and avoid acting in haste until Mercury stations direct in a week. Your patience with business associates may be challenging but the rewards are there if you are patient.
