Weekly Astrology for June 4, 2018 by Chris Flisher
The action this week is largely driven by the harsh angle of the Sun and Mercury to the illusive planet Neptune. Together the Sun and Mercury (in the sign that it rules) provide a lively exchange of thoughts and deliberate actions. When the Sun and Mercury align we can expect the conversation to be front and center. In our current political and social-media climate that can entail a continuous burst of activity that at times is as exhausting as it is stimulating. The constant barrage of news both worthy and trivial is enough to drive us to distraction, and perhaps that is the purpose. What is interesting is how accurately the alignment of the Sun and Mercury falls within the definition of what our public discourse has become. This genuinely reflects the basic tenet of astrology as stated by the famous Egyptian mystic, Hermes Trismegistus ; “As above, so below. As within, so without. As the universe, so the soul.” We reflect the skies and the cosmos reflects us. With that in mind be aware f the influence of Neptune in this situation. Neptune is the planet of illusion and delusion. It is truly the planet for our times as we sit awash in a constant swirl of fake news and inflated rhetoric.
Elsewhere in the cosmos we see the opposition of Venus to Pluto. Venus represents harmony, beauty, and the aesthetic, whereas, Pluto is the great reconstructor determined to destroy only to rebuild. This combination favors a duality as do all connections with planets to each other. On the positive side this connection can herald a steaming passion that may find its roots in fate or karma. The deep, dark vestige of Pluto draws on an undercurrent of the forbidden, the secretive and the unsavory to some extent. Venus delights in the sensual, the harmonious, and the passionate. Together they can stir up a lust-filled romance that may be as heated as it is fleeting. Since Venus is a relatively fast moving planet, the idea of a one-night stand might fit this connection the best. Relationships borne of this alignment may be intense but not long lasting. By contrast, the inverse might also be present as immorality, exaggerated sexuality, and intense connections formed under the guise of these two planets stand as reminders of how powerful this connection can become.
