Astrology Forecast ~ December 29, 2014 by Chris Flisher

A long and tumultuous year is coming to a close.  And even though the calendar is a man-made construct the season still bears a certain reverence.  The modern calendar does not follow the seasons as perhaps it should with the Vernal equinox of March determining the new beginning of the year with the winter solstice commencing .  This would put our calendar in line with the natural rhythm of the planet.  It is odd that the calendar is just a little off.  It doesn’t matter since we are entrenched in our ways.  The point is that the year has come to an end and we approach the new year as an opportunity to start anew.  It is almost as if there were an imaginary finish line in the universe that we cross each year at this time.  Champagne corks fly, fireworks soar and people make resolutions for the year to come.  The celebratory tone sweeps us into a euphoric mood of rejuvenation and promise.  All of that may be fine and symbolic in its own sense.  The occasion does provide an opportunity to refresh our motives.  As might be expected we continue to be the witness of strong Capricornian energy with four planets collecting in that area of the zodiac.  Sun, Mercury, Venus and Pluto are gathered in Capricorn and hard work, responsibility, and renewal may be our strongest desires under these skies.

Shortly after the new year passes we see Venus leaving Capricorn and on her way to Aquarius, followed by Mercury into the same sign on the first Full Moon of the year early next week.  Mercury seems to be quite effective while in Aquarius as his penchant for curiosity and intellectual endeavors shine under this influence.  While Venus may not be as comfortable in this area of the zodiac, she does offer an awareness of global topics and working towards the collective good.  These are strong Aquarian traits and are best illustrated by the likes of Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, both of whom followed their strong vision for building a better world.  At the same time, Saturn has left Scorpio and moved into the early degrees of Sagittarius.  While this occurred in the late days of December we may feel a noticeable shift in our sense of duty.  Any time a major outer planet changes signs we all feel the impact somewhere in our lives.  While the fixed signs (Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus and Leo) will be the most obvious beneficiaries of this shift we all have a part of our lives where this planet plays a role.  This is why it is important to know your own personal roadmap.  When you understand where Saturn now sits in your personal horoscope you will be able to heed his strong guidance and work towards doing the right thing in a sector of your life.
